OSC/MIDI over WiFi

WiFi
To use IsoKeys™ as a MIDI or OSC controller, you must purchase the OSC/MIDI over WiFi feature from within IsoKeys itself. (Click Extend in the application menu to make a purchase.)

To configure a Windows environment to use this feature, follow these steps on your PC:
  1. Download and install Pd-extended from the Pure Data site.
  2. Download the IsoKeys patch file.
  3. Double-click on the patch file. This will open the patch in Pure Data.
  4. Configure Pure Data to process MIDI and audio appropriately:
  • Click Media => audio ON.
  • Click Media => Audio Settings.
  • Set the delay (msec) field to 1.
  • Click Apply and then OK.
  • Click Media => MIDI Settings.
  • In the output device 1 field, select Microsoft GS Wavetable Synth.
  • Click Apply then OK.
On your Android device, press the menu button and touch Preferences. In the OSC/MIDI section, make sure the Enable box is checked and that the Host field is set to the IP address of your PC. To configure the IP address of your PC, do the following:
  1. Open a command window. (In the Start menu, type cmd and the Enter key.)
  2. Type ipconfig at the command line.
  3. Find the IPv4 Address of the adapter you are using to connect your PC to your wireless network.
  4. Enter this value in the Host field in IsoKey's OSC/MIDI preference section.

Return to the playing surface of IsoKeys on your Android device. When you touch a key, it should sound a note through the virtual synth on your PC.

To communicate with other software, you must simply add the requisite MIDI connections. We recommend MIDI Yoke for this task:

  1. Download and install MIDI Yoke.
  2. In Pure Data, click Media => MIDI Settings.
  3. In the output device 1 field, select Out to MIDI Yoke: 1.
  4. Click Apply then OK.
  5. In the MIDI configuration of your target application, set the input device to In From MIDI Yoke: 1.

Congratulations! You should now be able to control your MIDI application from IsoKeys by way of Pure Data.
